Prepared with the contributions of Prof. Dr. Erinç Yeldan from Kadir Has University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Atıl Aşıcı from İstanbul Technical University and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sevil Acar from Bosporus University, TÜSİAD Report ‘New Climate Regime in the Light of Economic Indicators’ has been publicly shared. The report discussing the new climate regime which is structured on the grounds of Paris Agreement and the European Green Consensus and its possible effects on Turkey’s economy and trade draws the attention on the fact that European Green Consensus can on one hand be considered as a brand new opportunity as a means of transformation aiming sustainable development while on the other hand it can be a risk for Turkey.

Prof. Dr. Yeldan from Kadir Has University, who participated in the presentation session of the report, summarized his views on the report as follows: “European Green Consensus creates new opportunities for Turkey. It is foreseen that significant improvements can be achieved in terms of both national income and greenhouse gas emissions owing to an alternative Green Economic Transformation scenario that focuses on reducing the emission, the allocation of funds for the green transformation of companies and ensuring energy efficiency via renewable energy within the framework of a strategic transformation whose elements are confirmed with determination. The green economic transformation strategy shows that the targets towards reducing emission rates can be achieved by increasing production and employment in the national economy, thus offers an important alternative for Turkey’s quest for a sustainable development strategy.“
