Abstract: Matthias Sutter will talk about field-experimental projects both of which center around the effects of information provision on health-related behavior. The first one is about an information intervention early on in the pandemic in Bangladesh, where information has been provided about symptoms and precautionary measures and exponential spread of the COVID-19 virus. In about 2,000 households, Sutter and coauthors find that death rates in treated household seem to have been reduced by about 50%. The other project is about information provision to households in northern India that suffer from having the toxic Arsenic in their drinking water (that causes severe health problems). Here, the results show that information provision changes knowledge, behavior and health (up to 1 year after the intervention).
This event series is organized by Asst. Prof Gözde Çörekçioğlu İshakoğlu and Asst. Prof. Ulaş Karakoç.
